Tanzania, America to establish good relationship

Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan has held talks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Covid-19, Democracy and the business environment in Tanzania.

On his Twitter account, Blinken praised President Samia's efforts in tackling the Corona epidemic.

According to a statement from the White House, Mr. Blinken also praised President Samia's efforts in strengthening democracy and his determination to meet and collaborate with political parties as well as to maintain media freedom.

However, the main opposition party in the country (CHADEMA), states that it has not been officially announced when the President will meet with them, although their request to see him was accepted.

Currently the political heat in the country is focused on getting a new Constitution, where apart from activists and many other groups, political parties in the country have been shouting for a new Constitution for the country, following its process of standing for more than six.

President Samia recently said he should be given first time on the new constitution as he is building the country's economy at the moment.

In addition, promising that the Tanzanian government will continue to cooperate with the US government, a White House statement says President Samia has invited US President Joe Biden to visit Tanzania to further strengthen ties between the two countries.
